As of now, no major changes are expected in the JEE Main 2027 Physics syllabus. The NTA is expected to publish the official JEE Main 2027 syllabus PDF in October 2026.
Until then, here is what every JEE 2027 aspirant must know:
The syllabus was reduced in 2024; topics like Communication Systems in Physics, Mathematical Reasoning in Maths, and Polymers and Environmental Chemistry were deleted. No further reduction has been officially announced for 2027 as of mid-2026.
Bottom line: Prepare from the 2024 revised NTA syllabus right now. That is the current active syllabus for JEE 2025, 2026, and expected for 2027. Check the official NTA website in October 2026 for any new changes.
The Big Syllabus Reduction: What Changed in 2024
The most important syllabus event for JEE 2027 aspirants happened in 2024.
The National Testing Agency unveiled the JEE Main Reduced Syllabus for 2024. This revision was prompted by changes in the syllabus across various national and state boards, as well as the updated NCERT books.
The previous syllabus comprising 64 units was rationalized to a total of 53 units across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
This reduction is still active. It applies to JEE 2025, 2026, and is expected to continue for JEE 2027.
Every topic removed in 2024 is still removed. Do not prepare these topics for JEE 2027.

Out of 20 units in Physics, only 1 unit has been completely deleted. A few topics from the Experimental Skills section were also removed.

There is NO change in the JEE Main syllabus 2026. NTA made changes in syllabus in 2024 by removing many topics. The JEE 2026 syllabus is the same as 2025.

For Physics specifically, this means:
Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, Rotational Motion, Electromagnetic Induction, and Modern Physics are the highest-weightage chapters together contributing 15 to 18 questions out of 30.

From 2022 onwards, the JEE Main Physics section has seen more multi-concept questions where two or more chapters are combined in a single problem. Numerical problems in Physics have increased in difficulty, requiring stronger mathematical ability.
